What’s is Going on in December?

Let me tell you!

Farmer Direct Produce
While so much of the local produce growing season is over now, with the cold weather having set in, there is still actually quite a bit available.
The Martin family in Englewood put out a lot of vegetables for a late fall crop for us. So even though we have already had snow, they have cabbage, lettuce, spinach, green onions, carrots and more that they’re still harvesting for us!
Apples are still available in abundance because they store well, especially certain types like Evercrisp, Pink Lady, Fuji, and Granny Smith. And there are so many delicious types to choose from now!
We have mountains of sweet potatoes right now! The Mennonite farmer who grew them for us ended up with a bumper crop, so we have plenty for you of both the orange Beauregard potatoes and a good supply of the purple ones, too.
We have gotten in basically the last of the red, white, and golden potatoes for the year. They’re in very nice shape, and should store for quite awhile. So keep on buying them!

Georgia Satsumas
I love this crop and I’m excited it’s back in season now! However, I just heard from Will down there that the farms have had a very hard time this year… actually almost losing their whole crop! That’s one of the super hard parts about farming: the unpredictability because of weather.
But we thankfully they have some for us, of a little larger size. It’ll be a short season, so get them while you can!

Closeout Food
Well, this is an ever changing market! There are lots of amazing foods right now at great prices. One of my favorite items right now is all the cheese from England. Normally this would be really expensive, but it’s not from us! And it is SO MUCH BETTER than “American” cheese that comes in slices.
Shopping closeout food from us is like treasure hunting: You never know what you’ll find! And if you want it, you need to order it when it’s available because before you know it, it may be gone.

Gifts
Last but not least, we have have numerus items that would make great gifts for the holidays. Some ideas would be books, dried fruit and nuts, special treats in a gift basket that you make, knives and household items, and many other possibilities for the person that means so much to you!
